The project&#8217;s aim is to better understand the spatial and temporal distribution of grass pollen sources in Brisbane (grass pollen is a major outdoor allergen). <a href=\"https:\/\/auspollen.edu.au\/brisbane\/index.php\/aboutgrassgazers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Further background information<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>What Grass Gazers Citizen Scientists are documenting<\/h3>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">All observations of grass in South East Queensland can be included. <a href=\"https:\/\/auspollen.edu.au\/brisbane\/index.php\/grass-information\/\" title=\"grassinfo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">This page<\/a> has more info about grasses and\u00a0<span>a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/auspollen.edu.au\/brisbane\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/CommonGrasses_231220.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" title=\"Common grasses\">guide to some of the common grasses in Brisbane (pdf).<\/a><\/span><br \/> The most useful observations of flowering grasses will include date, location, grass species,\u00a0and four other details we have called the <strong>GG_FAHM<\/strong>\u00a0observational fields. <a href=\"https:\/\/auspollen.edu.au\/brisbane\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/GGAP_ObservationFields_BAS_2021.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" title=\"Gg_FAHM\">More about the GG_FAHM fields (pdf)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>How to make an observation<\/h3>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Make observations using\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/inaturalist.ala.org.au\/\" style=\"font-size: 16px;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">iNaturalist Australia<\/a><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">.\u00a0 Overview of steps:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">1. join iNaturalist<br \/> 2. make iNaturalist observations of flowering grasses (plants in the Poaceae family), within the South East QLD area (turn location ON or you can add GPS coordinates manually)<br \/> 3. add the four <strong>GG_FAHM<\/strong> details to your grass observations<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Notes: The iNaturalist mobile App will automatically record basic observation details: photos, date, location, and will give a suggestion of identification.\u00a0 All observation of grasses in the area will automatically be included in the Grass Gazers project.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">Step 1: How to join iNaturalist and download the iNaturalist App onto your mobile device.\u00a0\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/static.inaturalist.org\/sites\/9-logo_square.png\" alt=\"logo\" width=\"30\" height=\"30\" \/><\/h4>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">Before joining please read this <a href=\"https:\/\/inaturalist.ala.org.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" title=\"overview of iNaturalist\">overview of iNaturalist<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0and also the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inaturalist.org\/pages\/community+guidelines\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" title=\"community guidelines for behaviour\">community guidelines for behaviour.<\/a>\u00a0There is also a quick (84 second) <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/162581545\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" title=\"general video intro to iNaturalist\">general video intro to iNaturalist<\/a>.<br \/> To join you can create a stand-alone account or create an account using your Facebook or Google authentication.<br \/> The iNaturalist app works on Android and Apple devices.
